Payton Jewell Caines has been formally granted an agent licence by Rent Smart Wales.

Introduced by Welsh Government under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014, Rent Smart Wales puts a requirement on every landlord of a rented property in Wales to register with the scheme, while those who self-manage must also obtain a licence.

Landlords have until 23 November 2016 to register with Rent Smart Wales and decide whether to apply for a licence or hand over management of their property to a licensed agent like Payton Jewell Caines.

Sara Hawkins, Rentals Director for Payton Jewell Caines explains: “Due to an increasing amount of 'red tape' put in place by the local authority and Welsh Government in recent years, many landlords have taken the decision to instruct an agent to manage their properties on their behalf with many of those who have a portfolio of properties opting for the full managed service. At Payton Jewell Caines, we have proven that we are able to fulfill Rent Smart Wales’ criteria required for an agent licence, meaning we’re permitted to continue acting as a managing agent.”

With a fully qualified ARLA (Association of Residential Letting Agents) team, Payton Jewell Caines offer a unique rent on time scheme and innovative online maintenance management portal. The team manage nearly 500 properties and act on behalf of some 400 landlords.
